Civics and Coffee Podcast

Since 2020, Alycia Asai, a current History MA student at Sonoma State, has hosted a weekly podcast, Civics and Coffee, in which she explores American history topics, usually in 15-20 minutes, just long enough for a coffee break.

Recently, she participated in a panel discussion at the Society for Military History. The 80-minute long discussion, "Making Airwaves: The Profession of History and the World of Podcasting,” focused on how historians can leverage podcasts as both educational tools for instruction and for promoting their scholarship in new ways. Alycia joined members of four other podcasts to discuss their process for show creation, how they approach our various fields, and their advice for individuals who are thinking about starting a podcast or being a guest on one. The conversation was recorded as a live podcast episode, which dropped on Civics & Coffee on May 20th. Listen HERE!
