Biology Research of Alum Gains Worldwide Recognition
After completing his master's thesis at Sonoma State University, David Ensminger completed a PhD at Penn State and a post-doctoral position at UC Berkeley. David is currently an Assistant Professor at San Jose State University. He has become one of the world experts on the effects of transgenerational stress in wildlife. His research examines the effects of maternal stress on immune function and oxidative stress in their offspring. David's lab studies how wild animals respond to acute and chronic stressors with the goal to gain a holistic understanding of organismal responses to stressors by bridging multiple layers of biological organization, from cellular responses to ecological interactions. In addition to his research, David's laboratory focuses on student growth and success.
